How to get to Bratislava? The international airport is located about 9 km from the city center. You can get here by car from Vienna Airport in about an hour.
The main train station in Bratislava has good connections with the surrounding countries. There are also regular bus lines from Bratislava to many European cities.

To move around the city, you can use the efficient public transport system, which includes buses, trams and trolleybuses. You can buy tickets in advance at machines or kiosks, including 24-hour and 72-hour ones.

You can easily walk through the historic center of Bratislava. The city also offers the possibility of renting bicycles and e-bikes.

Try local cuisine in traditional Slovak restaurants (huts). Don't be afraid to try bryndza gnocchi, cabbage or fried cheese.

Euros are used in Slovakia. Most shops, restaurants and hotels accept credit and debit cards. However, it is good to have cash with you for smaller purchases. ATMs can be found all over the city.

Slovak is spoken here, but many people, especially the younger generation, speak English. A basic knowledge of Slovak phrases can be useful and appreciated by the locals.

Bratislava is generally a safe city, but as in any larger city, you'd better be careful with your personal belongings and avoid deserted areas at night.
